This crude totem is made to place your Palo Santo (sacred woods) or smudge (sage), with a hole in the center to hold an incense stick straight in and collect the ashes. It is an elegant sculptural object made according to the art of embracing imperfection and inspiration.
Made from a mix of black or beige sculpture clay and lava glaze, the clay is quarried from the Belgian Ardennes. Baked at 1250°.
Each object is created through a slow and deeply intuitive creation process, making each piece unique and the size can vary (up to 2 to 3 cm). Typically they are approximately 14 x 9 cm wide and 8 cm high.
Katya draws her inspiration from nature and everyday life.
She makes limited handmade ceramic objects between art and functionality. To look at, to be cherished, to be purified, to enjoy. Each piece is made by hand during a slow and deliberate process.
